Health and Social Care Team

Nurses

At Southside Nursing Home there is always a qualified nurse on duty, who will ensure that any nursing or medical needs receive immediate attention. Our nurses take overall responsibility for our residents’ health and wellbeing through assessment, implementation and evaluation of personal care plans together with residents and their families.

Senior Care Assistants

Our senior care assistants are responsible for the day to day supervision of the care of our residents. They work closely with the nurses and have responsibility for some of the assessment and planning of residents’ personal care plans. Senior care assistants also supervise the induction and ongoing clinical practice of the care assistants.

Care Assistants

Our care assistants support residents with all aspects of personal, social, emotional and spiritual care, without compromising their independence. They assist with any tasks residents may no longer be able to do for themselves, e.g. shopping, writing letters or cards, sorting through clothes or pursuing a hobby.  They are the people relatives and friends get to know well, as they offer cups of tea, have a chat about how the day is going, and offer whatever help is needed.

Activities Coordinators

Our activities coordinators consult with residents and their families to develop an activity plan, with a view to maintaining independence, and promoting residents’ individual lifestyles and interests.

Residents’ care is based on their personal Care Plans. Information for these is gathered over time and they are continually evaluated and developed to ensure residents’ needs are met appropriately. Residents and their relatives and carers are encouraged to contribute, so that individual preferences and choices can be met.
